Royal Doulton Cup Prototype, Rare, Floral Band on White Porcelain

This is a rare “prototype only” footed coffee cup by Royal Doulton. It features a floral band with pink, red and purple flowers and black banding on a white blank. There is gold trim on the rim, handle and base. The base reads, “(Lion on Crown) /Made in England /Royal Doulton /England” and beneath that, “Prototype Only (underlined) /This is and remains at all /times the property of the /Royal Doulton Company /*Not For Sale*”. This entire mark has a printed circle around it. My guess is an employee brought the cup home to use, as the base ring has some wear (see photo #5). I do not have the saucer. Size: 3½ in. across x 2½ in. high. Condition is good with one crack on the base just below the handle (photo to follow). There are no chips, crazing or wear to the gold. This condition is reflected in the price.
