Antique Meito plate, 1920s Hand Painted Porcelain Made in Japan

This exquisite scene of a windmill near a bridge over a stream, hand painted in subtle shades of yellow and brown, was created by Meito in Japan. It measures 6 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition.
The maker’s mark is after 1922, because it lists the words Made in Japan, as required by a 1922 USA law on origin. The design reflects the 1920s’ themes of serenity and natural landscapes without people. Only the windmill hints at human existence.
